INPI joins the harmonized database

13.02.2015

France’s National Intellectual Property Institute (INPI, French abbreviation) joins the harmonised database of products and services for the trademarks classification, available through TMclass. With this incorporation, every regional and national Intellectual Property office within the EU is included in the instrument.

This inclusion has been possible thanks to the good communication and collaboration between INPI and the remaining institutions that operate in the European´s Trademark and Designs Network.

TMclass is the biggest trademark classification database in the world. It provides great benefits to database’s users from all EU and improves the predictability of the decisions emitted by IP offices of the EU.

This database has an easy and fast classification of products and services and nearly 65000 terms validated in 23 languages of the EU, all of them previously approved by the national and regional IP offices of the EU and the OHIM.

The INPI’s integration and the joint effort made by the offices in more ambitious projects are perfect examples of the achievements that they can obtain to benefit users.
