Music Industry urges Donald Trump to strengthen IP rights

27.12.2016

The music industry has urged the new US President-Elect Trump to strengthen Intellectual Property laws. Nearly 20 organizations call for the Trump administration to implement "strong action to enforce intellectual property laws against infringers".

The organizations joined together to write an open letter to Trump stating that "intellectual property is a driving force in today's global economy of constant innovation.  It is wellspring of American growth and job creation.  With the rise of the digital economy, it has become even more critical that we protect intellectual property rights and preserve freedom of contract rather than create regulatory barriers to creativity, growth and innovation".

The organizations added that "strong protection for intellectual property rights will assure growth in both creativity and technology, benefiting the American economy as a whole".
