Ariana Grande sues Forever 21

12.09.2019

Last Monday, 2nd September , singer Ariana Grande sued Forever 21 and beauty brand Riley Rose for using  “distinctive attributes of the singer, including her name, image, and likeness without permission by posting onto Defendants’ website, and the Instagram accounts, images of Ms. Grande and/or a look-alike model dressed in clothing and accessories strikingly similar to the clothing and accessories worn by Ms. Grande in her iconic ‘7 Rings’ music video, and posed in positions nearly identical to poses made by the singer in the video, and that the public readily associates with Ms. Grande.”

The singer alleges that Forever 21 contacted her to make her part of the campaign in December 2018 but no agreement was reached. The lawsuit amounts to $10 million in damages for infringement of Plaintiffs’ intellectual property rights and rights of publicity.
