Welcome to UAIPIT, the University of Alicante (UA) Intellectual Property (IP) and Information Technology (IT) Project!
UAIPIT.com is the international Portal on Industrial and Intellectual Property, Information Technology law and Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation) promoted by the professors of the Area of International Private Law of the Law Faculty of the University of Alicante. It is addressed to professionals, researchers, and students interested in these important topics.
www.uaipit.com was registered on October 18, 1999 and was presented to the public on June 19, 2000 with the support of the Fundación Retevisión (Fundación Auna) which financed the launch of this Portal through a Research Project assigned to the Department of Philosophy of Law and International Private Law of the University of Alicante. UAIPIT.com has been part of the Research Project titled “Law at the service of the integration of society and business in the Information Society and Knowledge,” reference number BJU2001-085, subsidized by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation www.micinn.es.
At present, UAIPIT.com is managed by the University of Alicante's General Foundation and Directed by Prof. Lydia Esteve and Mr. Richard A. Mac Bride (please see the UAIPIT team). Thanks to a collaboration agreement with the European Patent Office (EPO), since 2006 UAIPIT. com has been developing, in conjunction with the European Patent Academy, one of the most complete calendars in the World on Patent-related events and other IP rights.
UAIPIT.com has also several collaboration agreements with other professional and educational institutions in America, Asia and Europe. UAIPIT is very grateful for the help given by all its partners and collaborators.
Since November 2009, UAIPIT’s 10th Anniversary, we have been organizing the annual UAIPIT International Congresses in order to discuss current affairs and perspectives on topics of interest regarding IP protection and Information Technology.

The database of www.uaipit.com contains several sections on Legislation, Case law, Events, Blogs, Links, Publications, Research and Education, Intellectual Property dictionary, and other information grouped in six categories:

- Information Society (e-commerce, e-contracts, digital signature, data protection, the law of communication, taxation in the Internet, and the law of information)

- Patents (Inventions, patents, utility models, and plant variety protection)
The scope area covered by all sections of www.uaipit.com is international, and also covers the laws, statutes, and case law of American and European countries. The scope is expanding to Asia, Africa and Oceania. UAIPIT is available in English, Spanish and German.
Our objective is to offer free quality service to professionals, researchers, and students who are interested in the world of Intellectual Property and Information Society law so as to assist them in doing research on Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Information Society.
